.

seems that i'll have to spend most of my
next two weeks with some
serious, serious studying.
art history, that is... again.
alongside work at the studio.

as for blogging,
i got quite a lot of stuff lined up for posting,
so i dearly hope that i'll also be able to
keep up with the demands of blogging.
we'll just see, because posting takes a whole lot of time, too.

but would i disappear
for a while, you just don't get scared
because i'll be back very soon,
and you can always browse the
by now vast archives that sometimes
surprise even me. :P

pic by satoru kikuchi for hills life magazine,

heck

just talking to myself:
but what if i don't want this new type of picture gallery in blogger?
i wanna see things up close.
sheesh.
okay, i know i can still right-click and
open in new window to get the orginal size, but still...
okay, in the meantime i even realized that
i can also click on the link
in the lower left corner and that gets me
to the pic with it's individual url...
but still...
okay, i don't really know what would be better...
but still...

well, okay, i know i'll eventually
get (and gotta get) used to it.
but i'm getting old
and many a time i don't
like change.

so why didn't the warn me? :P

all paintings by kazimir malevich, googled.

a little tile show from sicily

casa talía is a b&b in modica, sicily,
created and run by milanese architects couple
viviana haddad and marco giunta,
and it's all about slow living.

i love all those tiles!

all pics scanned by me from
elle decor italia july-august 2011.
photos by andrea ferrari.

i also found some more pics

click pics for a closer look.

(side note: yes, i'm doing my daily drawing challenges.

i quite liked it yesterday, but the previous three days
they felt more of a drudgery.
i feel totally untalented, of course,
but i'm going to get thru this, i know.

i also decided to break out
betty edwards'
that is really a love-and-hate book for me.
it's smart. very smart.
but if you take a look at the cover, you instantly know that
it has nothing whatsoever to do with art.
you know, to be a great artist, you don't
necessarily have to be able to be a good draftsman...
take cézanne or van gogh.
on the other hand, it has everything to do with
seeing... that kind of seeing that is my goal
in this 30-day challenge, so i feel
that i might benefit from reading it and maybe
doing some of her excercises...
of course i never did those excercises before...
i'm lazy, you know...)

.

off to visit my parents for a few days,
but i'll try to keep posting.

side note: i did today's challenge.
(of which i suppose every hungarian
household owns at least one)
turned out to be a difficult subject.
the drawing took me forty minutes,
and i still couldn't get it right.
but it made me think.

(image from good nite irene)

omg

this is a millais.
i would never have guessed.
okay, maybe the red hair...
why did he paint all that cheesy crap
if he could paint like this?
okay, i'm too harsh on him.
i love his ophelia and blind girl and isabella and stuff...
but i find this to be so much better.
it might be just me.
to be honest, i don't really like the pillars,
but look at the embroidery!
and the blue-yellow contrast.
and the orange and red.
no kidding, my heart really skipped a beat
when i spotted this.
okay i'll stop.

i'm only posting this to let you in on a plan i got.
i plan to transform the way i see things.
i'd like to tranform it by drawing everyday.
just a little, not much.
of course it has to be after life, not doodling.
ten minutes at the least.
(suppose if you can transform your body
by working out ten minutes a day, than maybe
you can transform your seeing
by drawing ten minutes.)

starting (ummm) today (ummm).

okay, let's say i'll make this
a 30 day challenge.
(i posted this little ted speech some time ago
that i really loved, so now i'll give it a shot.)
i'm a bit scared of course, because i'm not
very good at keeping promises,
but now that you got my word,
maybe i'll be more able to stick to this.
whaddaya think?

i'll keep you posted.

you're welcome to play along,
if you want to.

hugs,
agnes
